New nondirectional waveguide multicoupler as part of a simple microwave six-port reflectometer
Abstract
The coupling structure proposed consists of a main standard waveguide with inner dimensions of 22.86 mm and 10.16 mm, to which three waveguide side arms are attached by soft soldering. Arm 2 is fixed at an angle of 90 deg to the side wall, thereby forming an H-plane T-junction. The two other arms cross the main guide at the bottom and at the top (at an angle of 90 deg), with common broad walls of thickness 0.65 mm. The phase shift of the wave amplitude excited in arm 2 by a pure traveling wave in the reference plane of the main guide is close to zero. This is not true of arms 1 and 3. It is shown that the waveguide coupling structure can serve as the central part of a simple six-port reflectometer, principally up to frequencies in the range of millimeter waves.
