Ray analysis of mutual coupling between point scatterers in RCS diagram
Abstract
A correction of the fundamental function of interference between two point scatterers of a radar target is proposed, and a new radar cross section relation is established which takes multipath effects into account. This relation accounts for amplitude disturbances observed in experimental readings of systems with two spheres that are outside shadow zones. The results obtained may be easily adapted for the case of smooth, curved bodies, by introducing the notion of principal body curvature radii at the reflection points of signals into the equations given.
