On the possibility of using Read-type varactors in millimeter-wave parametric amplifiers
Abstract
The possibility of using Schottky-barrier Read-type varactors for millimeter-wave parametric amplifiers is investigated. The results of theoretical and experimental studies show that these varactors are preferable to the abrupt junction varactors when the pump power level is low. The Read-type varactors are found to provide for reductions in the pump power and the sensitivity of the parametric amplifiers to the variations of this power, which are important for millimeter-wave parametric amplifiers where neither the pump power level nor its stability are very high.
