Tunable single-mode operation of a cw color-center laser in the near infrared
Abstract
A CW color-center laser using metastable F2(+) centers in NaF is described. The laser is pumped by the broadband output of an HITC dye laser at approximately 870 nm, a wavelength very close to the absorption maximum of the metastable F2(+) centers in NaF. With a pump power of 400 mW, the color-center laser in a ring configuration gives stable single-mode operation with an output power above 50 mW in the 1.08-micron region.
