Peaked velocity profile generation
Abstract
It is shown to be possible, for the class of profiles generated by partial gauze screens, to detect the hole size/pipe diameter ratio necessary to produce a profile with specific values of profile peakiness and kinetic energy coefficient, thereby reducing trial testing. The experimental work was conducted in a closed circuit pipe rig powered by a fan, where the mean test velocity of 40 m/sec corresponded to a Reynolds number, based on pipe diameter, of 250,000.
