Accurate optical positions of isolated galaxies
Abstract
New coordinates, more accurate than those previously published by a factor of two or more, are presented for the optical centers of 12 galaxies which appear to be isolated. In addition to the center positions, to within 2 arcsec, those of four to eight nearby stars which can serve to align optical and radio/IR pictures are given to 1.5 arcsec. The results are presented in the form of a table which includes for each galaxy the optical center equatorial coordinates and those of the overlay stars, and comparisons are offered with the results of Gallouet, Heidmann and Dampierre (1973, 1975) and Dressel and Condon (1976).
