Performance of a CO2 repetitively pulsed cold cathode electron beam laser /CCEBL/
Abstract
A repetitively pulsed 45-liter CO2 laser, operating in the self-switched discharge mode, was designed, built, and tested. This paper reports on its development and test results. A cold cathode electron beam gun was used to control the laser gas discharge pumped by a low inductance sustainer capacitor. Single pulse energy output of 1.65 kJ and average power output of 28.6 kW at 25 Hz repetition rate have been achieved.
