Short wavelength lower hybrid waves nonlinearly excited due to ponderomotive density modulations
Abstract
The propagation of finite amplitude lower hybrid waves at the plasma edge is analyzed. The plasma density modulations arising due to ponderomotive forces (approx. E(2)) lead in the first approximation to the generation of the third spatial harmonic waves. The gradients of plasma concentration and temperature are taken into account. The amplitude of the third spatial harmonics are found numerically.
