German ground network and data system
Abstract
The German ground network and data system consists of four major facilities. A description of the antenna systems is presented, taking into account the 30-m deep space antenna, and an S-band station with a 15-m dish diameter for near-earth satellites. Attention is given to a decision to replace the old computer system, which is becoming more and more unreliable, with a complete new system, based on modern-technology computers. The data system hardware configuration is considered along with the communication system, the software system, and the control facilities.
