Coherent propagation effects in multilevel molecular systems
Abstract
Coherent propagation effects in vapors of polyatomic molecules under conditions of multiple-photon excitation are discussed. Included are the generation of new frequencies and the development of such transverse effects as self-focusing and self-defocusing. Also discussed are the adiabatic-following approximation for multilevel systems and the generation of new frequencies both in this limit and in the limit of an instantaneously-switched-on pulse.
