High-voltage hollow-cathode He-Cd/+/ laser
Abstract
The performance and operation of a high-voltage hollow-cathode He-Cd(+) laser are presented. Laser operation characteristics at green lines are presented, and current threshold and power requirements of the laser are discussed. Laser action at 533.7 nm and 537.8 nm Cd(+) transitions is obtained effectively with the high-voltage tube, and the optimum laser operation is observed at a side-arms temperature of 290 C. Measurement of the intensity of endlight emission of oscillations at 441.6 and 63.0 nm suggest that the laser oscillations in blue and red can probably be realized in the discharge of low helium pressure.
