Accuracy enhancement of a broadband A.T.E.
Abstract
The radio frequency (RF) testing techniques and technology used in the ATE industry are surveyed, and the advantages and disadvantages of various techniques are then evaluated. The stringent requirements to be met by the Advanced Electronic Warfare Test Set (AEWTS) are discussed, and it is shown how accuracy enhancement techniques are used to meet these requirements. The design of the RF testing subsystem is briefly described, noting that one of the more challenging tasks was the design of a mechanism to guarantee the integrity of RF signals in the 0.5-18 GHz frequency range. It is noted that the use of software techniques for accuracy enhancement is extensive. Software mechanization is discussed in detail, with illustrative examples included.
