On-board diagnostic television for sounding rockets
Abstract
One of the on-board instruments for in-flight diagnostics in sounding rocket test programs is the vidicon camera. The camera is designed to provide a basis for measuring such test objects as longitudinal and radial velocity, spin rate, precession rate, and tip-off angle. Twenty-seven vidicon cameras have been launched with only four failures. Advanced video variants include dual camera systems, low-light-level television cameras, and vidicon cameras equipped with servo-controlled lenses.
