European space microwave technology
Abstract
A current European space technology research program bearing on microwave communication systems and equipment is reviewed. The areas of research discussed include microwave propagation, antenna systems, high-power amplifiers, satellite repeaters, and RF switching devices. In the field of antenna systems, the state-of-the-art is represented by the dual-polarized elliptical-beam antennas; more advanced programs currently under way include the contoured-beam reflector antenna and multibeam array systems.
