Fast calculation of far-field patterns of reflector antennas with fast Fourier transform
Abstract
A numerical technique for the rapid calculation of reflector antenna far field radiation patterns is presented, which is applicable to antennas subjected to a small angle approximation and no restrictions as to reflector shape or feed location. The rapidity of the calculations is due to the use of a two-dimensional FFT algorithm associated with the numerical integration procedure. Numerical examples implemented by means of two different FORTRAN programs illustrate the range of computational time reductions, which varied over factors of 20 to 250. Agreement is found upon comparison of computation results with those of classical, Gauss-like numerical integration.
