Nonlinear satellite channel design for QPSK/TDMA transmission
Abstract
The performance of the modern filter adopted in the Intelsat TDMA/DSI system was evaluated extensively by computer simulation and laboratory experiments. It is shown that the newly adopted filter combination of this system will provide satisfactory performance under the expected operating conditions. The degradation due to imperfect amplitude and group delay equalizations of the satellite link was evaluated by computer simulation, and the on-site optimization of the satellite link performance was examined. The performance improvement achieved by incorporating a TWT linearizer at the earth station HPA is evaluated experimentally using the 120 Mbps QPSK modem as well as an Intelsat V satellite link simulator.
