Introduction to multi-grid methods for the numerical solution of boundary value problems
Abstract
Examples of various boundary problems are given and difference schemes and finite element methods for solving such problems are described. Topics covered include: (1) linear two-grid method; (2) linear multi-grid method; (3) smoothing techniques; (4) numerical results; (5) nested iteration; (6) further modifications; (7) nonlinear multigrid literation; (8) nonlinear example: Convection in an enclosed cavity; (9) Stokes' problem and steady Navier-Stokes equations; (10) elliptic eigenvalue problems; and (11) multi-grid method of the second king.
