Convective transport phenomena in low Prandtl number melts during material preparation
Abstract
The contribution of convection to the transport of material in liquids plays a very important role in solidification processes. But often unsteady convection leads to disturbances in the growth, e.g. to doping striations in semiconductor crystals. Therefore, investigations of hydrodynamic stability are of great importance for material sciences. The results of such investigations with low Prandtl number melts (In, InSb) are reported.
