Cost functions of the long-term planning of digital transmission systems using coaxial cables
Abstract
The cost mainly depends on the number of channels, i.e., the demand at the end of the planning term, the length of the transmission link, and the level of multiplexing at the transfer nodes. Cost functions were derived for specific transmission systems and bit rates which are all shown to be continuous and, depending on the demand, either linear or concave.
