Avalanche growth of electron-beam modulation in a waveguide with crossed fields and secondary-emission wall
Abstract
A theoretical study is presented of an electron beam moving in a crossed-field waveguide along a secondary-emission wall under conditions of cyclotron resonance. The electron-bombardment energy is calculated. It is shown that, in the accelerating phases of the HF field, an avalanche multiplication of electrons occurs due to a secondary-emission mechanism. Analytical relationships are obtained which characterize changes of the phase density of the beam along the waveguide axis.
