The effect of the electron-beam injection angle on the starting current of a backward wave tube
Abstract
It is shown that the starting current of a backward wave tube can be reduced by the injection of the electron beam at an angle to the HF field in the plane of the delay system. This effect can be used to improve the output characteristics of prolonged-interaction O-type devices.
