Contribution to the calculation of pneumatically damped shocks and vibrations
Abstract
Theoretical, experimental, and practical contributions to the understanding of pneumatically damped shocks and vibrations are presented. Pneumatic dashpots are fully analyzed, and a model for shock absorbers with adiabatic change of state is developed. The existence of a thermal boundary layer is taken into account in the modelling of oscillation dampers. In each case, the governing system of differential equations is derived and numerically solved by the Runge-Kutta method. The calculative results show good agreement with theoretical prediction. Design dimensioning recommendations are made and selected shock absorber procedures are represented by dimensionless numbers.
