Generalized study of a hydraulically actuated mechanism system
Abstract
A composite system consisting of the mechanism and the actuator is considered with emphasis on the interaction between the two important subsystems. A mathematical model based on the lumped parameter system is formulated and a set of dimensionless nonlinear state equations representing the dynamics of the composite system is derived. All the significant system parameters, namely, mechanical inertia, load, Coulomb friction, viscous damping, fluid capacitance, fluid inertia, leakage and fluid resistance are accounted for in the model. System analysis techniques in the time domain are applied and the behavior of the system is studied. It is shown that the behavior of the mechanism actuator system is controlled by certain dimensionless system parameters.
