The stability of a jet of an ideal ponderable fluid
Abstract
The asymptotic method is used to investigate the stability of a jet of ponderable fluid, the boundaries of which are made nonparallel under the influence of a gravitational field. The development of surface disturbances along the jet is studied. It is shown that disturbances propagating along the surface increase with increasing distance from the nozzle exit section. In a two-dimensional jet, augmentation of surface disturbances is associated with the influence of the external medium.
