Prediction of development of geomagnetic storms using the solar wind-magnetosphere energy coupling function ɛ
Abstract
It is shown that by monitoring time variations of the solar wind-magnetosphere energy coupling function ɛ( t) upstream of the solar wind, one should be able to predict fairly accurately the growth and decay of individual magnetospheric substorms and storms.
