High-power multi-pass amplifier
Abstract
The gain of a high-power multi-pass amplifier is studied. Conditions for raising the energy extraction efficiency are discussed. We obtain a general rule to select the optimum parameters. This result has been used to build a disk amplifier; there are three optical paths in the amplifier, and the laser beam of 100 mm diameter traverses it six times back and forth. Theoretical calculations are found to be in agreement with the experimental results.
