Computation of the excitation of surface waves on microstrip lines
Abstract
The appropriate Green's function is used to calculate the far field for a given current distribution on a microstrip line. The fraction of the power carried by the surface wave and by bulk waves is calculated. The far field of a microstrip antenna is also calculated. The results are applied to the example of a half-wave resonator, and the far field of a microstrip line of finite length is determined.
