Temperature dependence of SAW dispersive delay lines
Abstract
The SAW dispersive delay line whose temperature coefficients of the delay time, phase, and frequency are dependent on the substrate material and the frequency-dispersive characteristics is discussed. The temperature coefficients of the dispersive delay line, linear chirp filter, and variable delay line are theoretically obtained, and the temperature characteristics of the linear chirp filter and the delay lines are measured. The delay time and phase temperature coefficients generally are not identical; for the dispersive delay line, the former can be made zero, while the latter cannot. For variable delay lines, on the other hand, both coefficients can be made zero. It is shown that these zero temperature coefficients can be realized even if the substrate is temperature-dependent.
