Associated Production of Radio-Pulses at Several MHZ Frequencies from Large EAS
Abstract
The simultaneous production of radio emissions at different frequencies from the same extensive air shower are studied. In particular, experimental data on the correlation between 60 MHz with 80 MHz, 110 MHz, and 220 MHz, respectively, are reported. The data are analyzed statistically by a scattergram technique, and the product moment correlation coefficients are calculated for each pair of frequencies. Results indicate a highly significant positive correlation between simultaneously produced radiopulses at 60 and 80 MHz frequencies, but significantly negative correlations between those produced at 60 and 110 MHz frequencies and 60 and 220 MHz frequencies. These results suggest that existing theories for the phenomenon should be reanalyzed for both high-frequency pairs and low and high frequency pairs.
