On the Sensitivity of Gamma Families to the Chemical Composition of Primary Cosmic Rays
Abstract
A spectrum including heavy nuclei is used in a Monte-Carlo simulation of nuclear and electromagnetic showers in the atmosphere. The gamma families at mountain altitude (4500 m), obtained from this simulation, are compared with those obtained from the simulation assuming the pure proton primary cosmic rays spectrum.
