The first four harmonics of the daily variation of galactic cosmic rays.
Abstract
The kinetic equation for the galactic-cosmic-ray distribution function is solved by expanding the distribution function into a spherical-harmonic series with respect to the angles between the particle-momentum direction and the direction of the regular magnetic field. The expansion coefficients are determined and used to analyze data on the diurnal, semidiurnal, eight-hour, and six-hour variations of cosmic-ray intensity.
