X-ray Measurements and the Mass of Abell 1763 Out to a Radius of 1.4 Mpc
Abstract
The radial dependence of the extended X-ray emission in the cluster of galaxies Abell 1763 is presented, as detected with the 2-arc min resolution Imaging Proportional Counter onboard the Einstein Observatory satellite. From this radial dependence of the X-ray intensity, the radial dependence of the emission measure, the thermal electron density, and the total mass density are obtained out to 1.4 Mpc from the X-ray centroid. The total mass so obtained suggests that this cluster possesses a dark component (dark to radio, optical and X-ray observations).
