Light curves for two optically variable quasars.
Abstract
UBV-magnitudes have been measured for the quasars B2 1340+29 and B2 1351+26 on Schmidt plates from Kvistaberg and Tautenburg. Both objects show variations of more than one magnitude in B. 1340+29 shows a dominant trend of decreasing brightness amounting to nearly 3 mag from 1940 to 1978, as well as more rapid fluctuations. There is a marginal evidence for a brightness drop of 0.5 mag in 23 min for this object.
