Search for low frequency variability in a complete sample of extragalactic radiosources
Abstract
Results are given on the reobservations, after nine years, of the MC2 and MC3 catalogues. The observations were done at 408 MHz with the Bologna Cross, an instrument virtually identical to the Molonglo radio telescope. The analysis of a complete sample of 579 radiosources stronger than 0.4 Jy revealed eight variable and 12 probably variable radiosources. The frequency of occurrence is compared with that in other samples. Among the variable radiosources at least seven are identified with QSO's or blue stellar objects and one is an empty field. All variables for which information exists have flat spectra.
