Low-cost substrates for polycrystalline silicon solar cells by electrodeposition processes
Abstract
Economical processes for fabricating large grain size polycrystalline silicon substrates suitable were developed for photovoltaic applications. The technical feasibility for producing thin film polycrystalline silicon sheet on selected substrates by molten salt electrolytic deposition techniques was evaluated. Methods were developed and tested for purifying silicon feedstock by acid leaching and electrorefining.
