Activities in the Magnetograph Chain program
Abstract
The Magnetograph Chain program was initiated in 1974 to coordinate magnetographic observations of solar active regions made in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. This paper reviews activities in this program, with particular attention given to the calibration of magnetic-field observations made by various observatories; the effects of noise on magnetographic observations; studies of the structure and development of magnetic fields in active regions; and studies of quasi-periodic variations of magnetic fields.
