14/4 GHz mixer-IF amplifier
Abstract
Using microwave integrated circuit (MIC) construction, an on-board 14/4-GHz mixer-IF amplifier has been developed which provides an overall noise figure of less than 6.5 dB and a conversion gain of more than 31.0 dB, over the 500-MHz bandwidth of the up-link frequency, 14 GHz. In addition, by employing MIC, the dimensions and weight of the 14/4 GHz mixer-IF amplifier were reduced substantially from those of units constructed by waveguide and coaxial circuits.
