For precise space geodesy, separation with micro-accelerometers of the non-gravitational from the gravitational forces
Abstract
This paper examines the separation of nongravitational from gravitational forces for determination of the earth gravity field and precise orbits. The gravity model is improved through exclusion of effects induced by atmospheric drag and solar pressure. Emphasis is placed on spherical shaped probe satellites with uniform skin characteristics. Methods for measuring nongravitational forces directly with accelerometers installed on board the satellite are discussed.
