The high temperature enthalpies of zinc sulfate and zinc oxy-sulfate
Abstract
The high temperature enthalpies (500-1200 K) of zinc sulfate and zinc oxy-sulfate were measured using a drop calorimeter. The data includes determination of the transformation enthalpy associated with the alpha to beta phase transition of zinc sulfate which occurs at approximately 1015 K. This information extends the range of thermodynamic information for zinc sulfate into the temperature regime where zinc sulfate decomposition becomes significant and has useful applications in thermochemical cycles for the production of hydrogen.
