The attitude sensors on Symphonie and their subsequent development
Abstract
Attitude measurement onboard Symphonie spacecraft by Sun and Earth sensors is described. Attitude measurement and control for the spin and three axis stabilization modes are analyzed. Operational results deduced through telemetry data processing are given; they confirm the predicted performance and the proper operation of the equipment. The implementation of derivatives of this equipment onboard Meteosat and Intelsat 5 is reported. Further improved versions developed for Aerosat and for OTS are mentioned. The prospects for continued application of this sensor are assessed.
