Multiple carrier transmissions in satellite transponders
Abstract
A description is presented of the various system and operation parameters which affect the design and optimization of Multiple Carrier Per Transponder (MCPT) transponder operation. The transponder frequency plans are designed to carry multiple analog and digital channels through C-band transponders. Attention is given to the models used in the system analysis, inband intermodulation distortions, and the adjacent satellite interferences to and from MCPT transponders. An investigation is conducted regarding the channel performance for the systems using MCPT transponders. The total earth station to earth station channel performance is determined by the total noise and interference generated in the system due to various contributions.
