Radar data tracking using a structured non-linear estimator
Abstract
A novel robust algorithm for recursive multiradar data tracking is outlined. In addition to preprocessing, the overall estimator comprises separate estimators for speed and heading, an estimator for the mutual bias, and, finally, a position estimator. It is shown that these subestimators interact in a nonlinear way using geometrical transformations. In the speed and heading estimators, a probabilistic weighting is employed instead of a decision rule; this is found to give a smooth behavior during maneuvers. The method is flexible and the total estimator had predictable properties. The computational burden of the algorithm is feasible using today's hardware.
