Spectral behavior of the aerosol attenuation coefficient as determined from data of model estimates
Abstract
Model estimates are used to examine the spectral dependence of the aerosol attenuation coefficient on the electromagnetic-radiation wavelength. It is shown that a numerical forecast of aerosol attenuation in the infrared must take into account the dust content of the atmosphere as well as the inhomogeneity of the chemical composition of the aerosol. The model estimates used in the study were obtained from lidar observations of aerosol in the atmosphere.
