Structural features of plane turbulent shear flows
Abstract
A number of plane turbulent shear flows have been examined to determine large scale structural features of the motion. A statistical technique, which incorporates the use of coherence and phase spectra, is employed to identify these structures. The method offers a sensitive means of detecting apparently weak, but organized activity which is immersed within the turbulent field.
