Cerenkov and Cerenkov-Raman masers - Experiments
Abstract
The present paper deals with experiments which have demonstrated that high-power mm-microwaves can be generated by relativistic electron beams of modest voltages, using both the Cerenkov and the Cerenkov-Raman scattering mechanisms. The Cerenkov microwave generator appears to be superior in terms of conversion efficiency, whereas the Cerenkov-Raman scattering scheme can operate at much lower beam voltages
