Hermes satellite /CTS/ - Performance and operations summary
Abstract
It is noted that the Communications Technology Satellite (CTS) Hermes, was the first to demonstrate high power 12 GHz transmissions from a satellite. Attention is given to the design and performance of the three-axis stabilized satellite which was operated in geostationary orbit for almost four years. The operational features of the mission are outlined, and emphasis is placed on the novel operational requirements which arose during the mission.
