Microprocessor-based radar pattern development and simulation systems
Abstract
Two digital systems have been developed which provide the means for performing real-time simulation of radar scan patterns. One of these systems, the Pattern Development System, develops a radar scan pattern or modifies an existing pattern and stores it on a floppy disk. The Simulated Pattern Generation System then uses these developed patterns for real-time simulator training purposes. All the information transfer between the floppy disks and station antennas is controlled by a microprocessor based main controller. The instructor has control over the scan rate, scan angle, and radiation angle of the radar; he can also combine primary scans to simulate more complicated antenna configurations.
