Performance evaluation of solar energy systems using a modified f-chart analysis
Abstract
Comparison of measured and predicted solar energy system performance using a modified f-chart prediction algorithm enhances performance evolution, contributes to validation of the prediction techniques, and, when losses are considered, helps to characterize losses according to system type. The results of such comparisons are presented for selected sites in the National Solar Data Network (NSDN). Solar energy system performance predictions are executed using actual weather, subsystem loads, and system losses as provided by the Central Data Processing System of the NSDN. Discussions of the prediction techniques and treatment of losses are given. The results of the prediction process are shown for representative solar energy sites and compared to measured system performance for accuracy.
