The magnetooptic effect in the intracavity laser spectroscopy of gases
Abstract
Experimental results are presented on the effect of an external magnetic field on the spectral lines of gases measured by means of intracavity laser spectroscopy. Data on the sodium D2 line are presented. It is shown that the magnetic field causes a Zeeman splitting of the absorption line which is accompanied by a deterioration of line contrast.
