Emission line profiles in nonstationary objects (Influence of the combined effect of rotation and expansion of the envelope on resolved line profiles).
Abstract
The paper describes a method for computing the profiles of emission lines arising in a nontransparent envelope which expands with a velocity gradient and rotates about a central radiation source. The use of this model to explain emission-line profiles observed in Seyfert galaxies and quasars is considered. Computed and observed H-beta line profiles of NGC 4151 are compared, and good agreement is found.
